Texas youths could face new charge after man dies
DALLAS — Officials say a suburban Dallas man critically wounded in a shooting last month in which two children are charged has died.
The man’s wife, 46-year-old Darlene Nevil, was killed in the shooting two weeks ago.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office says 48-year-old Alan Nevil died Thursday night at Baylor University Medical Center.
A 13-year-old boy and his 12-year-old girlfriend are charged with murder and aggravated assault in the shooting. Garland police spokesman Joe Harn says the assault charge would not be upgraded until at least Friday.
Harn says both suspects are in the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police have declined to identify the children or reveal their relationship to the Nevils because they are minors.
