Prosecutors get results of Gibson investigation

LOS ANGELES — A sheriff’s official says detectives have given prosecutors the results of their investigation into domestic violence allegations against Mel Gibson.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore says the results were turned over Wednesday for a decision on whether charges will be filed.

Detectives investigated claims made against the Academy Award-winner by his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva (gree-GOR’-yeh-vuh.)

Gibson spokesman Alan Nierob declined comment in an e-mail message.

Detectives also have been examining claims by Gibson that Grigorieva attempted to extort him. Whitmore says that investigation has not been completed.
