Ex-Maine prosecutor guilty of child porn charges

PORTLAND, Maine — A federal judge has found a former Maine prosecutor guilty of more than a dozen child pornography charges.

District Judge John Woodcock Jr. issued the verdicts Monday against former top drug prosecutor James M. Cameron, who had waived a jury trial. The Portland Press Herald newspaper says the judge found Cameron guilty of 13 charges and not guilty of two others.

Cameron has been placed into custody and will be sentenced later this year.

Prosecutors say Cameron created 17 user profiles and left a trail of child porn on file servers and on his home computers.

Cameron’s attorney says the government failed to prove it was Cameron who sent, received or possessed any illegal photographs or videos.
