Conn. beer plant to reopen 8 days after killings
HARTFORD, Conn. — A Connecticut beer distributorship where an employee went on a shooting rampage and killed eight co-workers and himself is set to reopen.
Hartford Distributors Inc. president Ross Hollander says employees will return to work Wednesday, eight days after the killings. The workers are set to meet in the parking lot in the morning for a period of silence and remembrance for their slain colleagues.
Police say driver Omar Thornton started shooting Aug. 3 following a meeting in which he resigned after being shown video evidence that he stole beer at a warehouse in Manchester, about 10 miles east of Hartford.
The town scheduled a special church service for the workers Tuesday evening. Thornton’s family held a private memorial service for him Tuesday at a funeral home.
