Conn. candidate’s husband arrested in sign flap
HARTFORD, Conn. — Police say the husband of a Republican candidate for Connecticut attorney general has been arrested following an altercation with a woman he saw removing campaign signs.
Canton police say candidate Martha Dean’s husband and campaign manager, Malcolm McGough (mik-GOH’), was driving by Betty Fiora’s home on Sunday and stopped when he saw her moving signs touting his wife’s candidacy. They say when Fiora told him the signs were placed without her permission, he took the signs from her hand and pushed her.
Police say McGough is charged with breach of peace. He’s scheduled to appear Wednesday in Hartford Superior Court.
McGough’s attorney says his client denies the altercation became physical.
Dean faces Ross Garber in Tuesday’s GOP primary. Current Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is running for U.S. Senate.
