Suspected Md. serial killer indicted in 2 slayings

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — A 27-year-old man who police have alleged is a serial killer has been indicted in the deaths of a mother and daughter last year in Maryland.

Former UPS worker Jason Thomas Scott of Upper Marlboro was indicted Tuesday on two counts of first-degree murder in the March 2009 slayings of a nurse and her 20-year-old daughter. If convicted, he would face two life terms in prison.

Police said those killings are linked to the January 2009 slayings of another woman and her daughter in the area. Scott has not been charged in those slayings.

The prosecutor declined to comment on whether he agreed with police that Scott is a serial killer.

The public defender’s office Tuesday said it was not representing Scott. A lawyer representing Scott on a separate charge declined to comment.
