Duch Charged with 35 Years of Sentence

CAMBODIA (GaeaTimes.com) - Duch, former Khmer Rouge prison chief was sentenced to 35 years in jail by Cambodia’s UN-backed war crimes tribunal. Duch, 67, whose full name is Kaing Guek Eav has been found guilty of crimes against humanity and war crimes.
Duch’s imprisonment duration has been deducted by 16 years by the court on the grounds that he had been held illegally. So the condemned criminal will serve an effective 19 years of imprisonment.
According to reports, Duch was born in a small village called, Chaoyot village in Kampung Thorn province. He spent his childhood in this village, which has molded him to become a notorious criminal.
Duch was accused of many heinous crimes and he was sentenced after 77 days of trial.
