CLEARWATER, FLORIDA (GaeaTimes.com)- Rachel Wade, 20, was found guilty of second degree murder yesterday for fatally stabbing her romantic rival Sarah Ludemann. The gruesome murder took place on April 15, 2009 where Rachel Wade stabbed the victim twice with a kitchen knife after the rivalry over their mutual love interest got out of hands. The alleged killer broke into tears in Pinellas County, Florida courthouse after hearing her verdict. Rachel Wade is scheduled to appear in court on September 3, 2010 for her final sentence.
Rachel Wade took the stand on her own defense last Thursday by saying that she killed Sarah Ludemann for self defense. The defense attorney Jay Hebert said that it was Sarah Ludemann who started the fight and was the “aggressor”. The case took a dramatic turn when the abusive voice messages were played revealing violent threats and cruel taunts and the detectives said that it was Rachel Wade’s voice and she was addressing Sarah Ludemann. The Prosecutor described the stabbing as so violent that the knife blade was “bent”. The Prosecutor also said that Rachel Wade and Sarah Ludemann spent months fighting through messages and voice-mails over Joshua Camacho.
Rachel Wade’s attorney Jay Hebert told that his client was devastated and was crying and sobbing hysterically after the verdict. For Rachel Wade’s family also it came as a shock and they stood in the back of the courtroom surrounded by family and friends who were trying to shield them from media. The parents of the accused girl refused to comment anything to the media about their daughter by saying “No, Not now”. Sarah Ludemann’s mother Gay Ludemann said that “justice” has been served for them and thanked everyone for their patience. Rachel Wade can now face a sentence of twenty and half years in prison or even more than that.
