Amit Jethwa, RTI Activist Murdered

GUJARAT, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The murder of eminent RTI activist Amit Jethwa has created shock waves in Gujarat. Also called the Green Crusader Amit Jethwa was shot by some assailants near the High court of Gujarat on Tuesday. He was fighting to stop the illegal mining in the areas adjacent to the Gir forest and in the recent past he filed a PIL against the practice. The two assailants came on a motorbike as the reports have revealed. Satish Sharma the joint commissioner of police have confirmed the news.

As the reports suggest the murderers were waiting for activist Amit Jethwa and when he came in the place they shot him. He was just about to get in his car. He reportedly tried to resist the two men but failed to do so. However, the murderers left behind a country made revolver, a bag at the place of the murder. They also left behind a two wheeler. The cops have started an investigation. There were some clothes in the bag they had left at the place.

The Gir region which is known as the home to the Asiatic lion has been affected by sporadic incidents of mining and he was campaigning against it. Reportedly the political nexus behind these mines has played a part behind the shocking death of the activist. The forensic evidence may lead to the culprits who managed to flee the scene after killing the activist. The death of the activist Amit Jethwa has shocked the media and fellow activists. He was known as a fearless and righteous man who always fought for justice.
