It is still not known for how long the group was staying in the drop house but the authorities said to media sources that they believe they were paying something between $2,500 and $7,000 per person to the smugglers for staying there. Brat Graves the spokesman of the DPS said to media sources that the discovery of the drop house was made after the Phoenix Police got suspicious of a pickup truck that had a large piece of plywood in the truck bed.

Brat Graves said that the Phoenix police followed the Chevrolet pickup truck after it noticed the suspicious plywood in the truck bed that is often used by smugglers to hide illegal immigrants in truck beds. The truck was heading to a house in the southwest Phoenix neighborhood near the Lower Buckeye Road. According to reports, when the police stopped the truck the driver along with another occupant tried to escape on foot but were caught by the Phoenix Police. The police are now investigating whether the group had some kind of connection with the smugglers.
