Law enforcement initiative targets gang members

WASHINGTON — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says it has made more than 270 arrests in a law enforcement initiative targeting gang members.

The ATF began making arrests three weeks ago, the culmination of long-running joint investigations by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies across the country.

ATF says that in the latest phase of the effort, agents took 20 people into custody Wednesday in the Miami-Dade and Homestead areas of Florida.
