Mumbai Police Continues Anti Piracy Raids

MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- It seems like the anti piracy coalition deal that was signed between Bollywood and Hollywood film industry shall function as a shield to all kinds of movie piracy in the upcoming days. Recently, the officials of Mumbai Police conducted massive raids in between June 18 and June 20 which had them retrieve a large number of pirated copies of new releases. Mumbai Police said that out of the whole lot, there were more than 600 DVDs of Mani Ratnam’s epic movie “Raavan” which has just been released in the theaters.
Mumbai Police raided Nalasopara on June 20th 2010 along with a team of Cine Copyrights Investigation who performed a check upon all DVDs and accordingly have seized them from the dealers. In total there were about 4864 discs which were all pirated copies of latest movies both from Bollywood and Hollywood. The discs that were retrieved by the Mumbai Police included pirated copies of all latest movies like “Ironman 2″, “Prince of Persia”, “Rajneeti” and “Kites”.
An anti piracy team that comprised the members of AA Khan Associates joined the Mumbai Police in conducting a raid in a warehouse near the Dindoshi Police Station. They have arrested two people on the spot and have seized a motorcycle along with a total of 314 piracy prints of the movie “Raavan”. The officials of Mumbai Police also raided certain areas in Andheri East on June 18 where they have seized more than 1206 pirated discs which included pirated copies of movies like “Rajneeti”, “Badmash Company”, “Kites” And “Prince Of Persia”. Mumbai Police officials have also arrested a man in connection to the case.
