1 reservist dead, 1 in custody after Ga. shooting
FOREST PARK, Ga. — The military says an Army reservist is dead and another is in custody after a shooting at a post south of Atlanta.
Army spokesman Col. Dan Baggio says the victim died of multiple gunshot wounds Thursday at the U.S. Army Reserve Center. He could not offer specifics. The center is located on Fort Gillem.
Authorities say they are withholding the names of the soldiers until they can notify family members.
Military officials say the shooting happened between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday. Authorities have not determined a motive and it’s unclear what the relationship was between the two men. Nobody else was injured.
The 1st U.S. Army, based at Fort Gillem, is responsible for reserve and national guard training east of the Mississippi.
