Presidency College HOD Arrested

CHENNAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- In a recent development that has sent shock waves in the academic circle of Chennai, the HOD of the reputed Presidency College got arrested on the allegations slapped on him by a woman scholar. The student is in the Department of Public Administration and her name is Neeharika. The accusation of the Ph.D student who is 24 years old has made the head of department land behind bars. As per the report, the student filed her report at the Anna Square Police Station. The student wrote in her complaint that was filed in Thursday that she went to N Madhavan’s office who is the head of the department on May 18.

The Presidency college student said that after she reached the office of the HOD he asked her to sit on a chair. What followed was a harassment she said in the filing. He tried to molest her there, she alleged. The student is a resident of Kotturpuram. The police asked her why she took such a long time to lodge the complaint. She replied that initially she complained to the college’s Registrar and principal. When they did not take any action in the department she was compelled to approach Police for the issue.

N Madhvan who is the HOD of the Department of Public Administration in Presidency College was arrested by the police from his house in Valmiki Nagar. He has been slapped with Tamil Nadu Women’s Harassment Prevention Act’s section 4. He was also booked for section 354, 342 and 420. The Egmore Court has ordered to keep him in judicial custody.
