Andrew Koppel: Son of Ted Koppel Found Dead

New York (GaeaTimes.com) Andrew Koppel, 40 year old son of veteran journalist Ted Koppel, was found dead in an apartment in New York City early this morning. The cause of death has not yet been conformed but it is suspected that the cause of death may be related to alcohol consumption as he spent the day bar hoping with Russell Wimberly, a waiter he had reportedly met at the Hell’s Kitchen bar on Monday afternoon.

Andrew Koppel was found unconscious and not breathing in a bedroom in an apartment in upper Manhattan after police responded to a 911 call made by Belinda Caban, a resident of the apartment where Koppel died.

He was just really messed up when he came in. He was very drunk. I didn’t understand anything he said. We took him to the bedroom and laid him down to rest.

Belinda Caban said.

His complexion wasn’t right. It was pale. I said to call the police.

Andrew Koppel was declared dead around 1:30 a.m. in the Apartment in the Washington Heights neighborhood. The officials said that he started drinking at Smith’s Bar and restaurant in Manhattan and went on to several other locations top start his marathon drinking session for the day. Russell Wimberly told to New York Post that he was drinking with Koppel all night.

40 year old Andrew Koppel was Ted Koppel’s only son and third of four children. He was an attorney for the New York Housing Authority. It is reported that he lived with his girlfriend and their baby daughter.
