Chilean court returns Pakistani suspect to jail
SANTIAGO, Chile — A Chilean appeals court says a Pakistani man detained at the U.S. Embassy must go back to prison.
It’s preventive detention for Mohammad Saif Ur Rehman Khan, who according to U.S. authorities and Chilean police was found with traces of explosives.
Khan says it all must be a misunderstanding, that he’s a peaceful man and that he wants America to be safe and secure.
But the judges said Khan is a danger to security, society and the success of the probe. Now he must go back behind bars while Chilean prosecutors build their case.
