Kings assistant arrested on sex-abuse charge in DC
WASHINGTON — Prosecutors in Washington say they plan to raise the sex abuse charge against Los Angeles Kings assistant coach Mark Hardy to a felony.
D.C. police arrested Hardy on a charge of misdemeanor sex abuse.
The 51-year-old Hardy is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Friday in D.C. Superior Court. Details of the allegations were not immediately available and it was unclear which felony prosecutors would charge him with.
The Kings said in a statement after Hardy’s arrest that they were aware of the charge and had no further comment.
Hardy played in the NHL for 15 years. He began his second stint as an assistant coach for the Kings in 2008.
