Authorities ID triggerman in WA Craigslist slaying
TACOMA, Wash. — Authorities say they’ve determined who the triggerman was in a fatal home-invasion robbery in Washington state that was linked to an Internet ad for a diamond ring.
Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer says investigators believe 22-year-old Kiyoshi Higashi fatally shot 43-year-old James Sanders on April 28 at Sanders’ Edgewood home. He declined to provide further details Tuesday, citing the ongoing investigation.
Higashi and Joshua Reese, both of Tacoma, and Clabon Berniard of SeaTac all pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of murder, robbery, assault and burglary in Pierce County Superior Court. They’re each being held on $2 million bail.
A fourth person charged in the case, Amanda Knight, pleaded not guilty last week.
Detectives say the four went to Sanders’ home posing as customers who wanted to buy a diamond ring that Sanders posted for sale on Craigslist.
