Phoenix police fatally shoot homicide suspect

PHOENIX — Phoenix police have fatally shot a homicide suspect after he opened fire on officers on Interstate 10.

Police were called to a shooting scene Friday afternoon and found the body of an unidentified man. They say the suspect fled in a car and police later spotted the vehicle on I-10.

Police say the suspect pulled over and shot at officers. Officers fired back and killed the man, who was not immediately identified. No officers were injured.

A section of I-10 was closed for hours as authorities investigated the shooting.
