Stolen SUV rams into Atlanta barbershop, hurting 5
ATLANTA — Police say a stolen SUV has crashed into an Atlanta barbershop, hurting five people, three of them critically.
Police spokesman Officer James Polite says the vehicle had been reported stolen and was traveling at high speed after police from an auto theft task force attempted to stop it Thursday afternoon.
Atlanta Fire and Rescue Capt. Jolyon (JOH-lee-ahn) Bundrige says the SUV drove all the way into the shop and firefighters had to provide structural support to keep the building from collapsing.
Bundrige says all the injured victims were inside the shop at the time and have been taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Polite says the driver of the vehicle was not injured and charges are pending.
