A seven-year-old boy in Bihar was branded with hot iron sickle for allegedly stealing Rs 5 from a neighbour, police said today.

Police said Mansoor Alam, resident of Rajwada village in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, was overpowered by three villagers who later branded him with hot iron sickle used to harvest crops, on the charge of stealing Rs 5.

“They caught hold of my son and branded him with hot iron sickle alleging my son had stolen Rs 5″, victim’s father Mohammad Sadiq told a Hindi news channel today.

He said he had registered a case against three villagers with a local police station for torturing his son.

“We are investigating the case”, said a police man at the Sahebganj police station.

Last month, a one-year-old boy was thrown into a frying pan as her mother failed to return Re 1 she owed to her immediate neighbour.
