More witnesses at Mass. inquest of 1986 shooting

QUINCY, Mass. — More witnesses are expected to testify at an inquest into Alabama professor Amy Bishop’s fatal shooting of her teenage brother in Massachusetts more than 20 years ago.

Assistant District Attorney Robert Nelson says eight witnesses are expected at the closed-door inquest Wednesday. Testimony is expected to wrap up Thursday.

Ten people testified Tuesday in Quincy District Court. Among them were Bishop’s parents and retired Braintree, Mass., police officers who responded to the shooting, which was originally ruled an accident.

Prosecutors ordered the inquest to investigate whether Bishop intentionally shot her brother.

Bishop is charged in the Feb. 12 shooting deaths of three professors at the University of Alabama-Huntsville. She has said the shootings “didn’t happen.”
