Mass. judge to re-examine 1986 Amy Bishop shooting
WOBURN, Mass. — A Massachusetts judge has scheduled an inquest this week into the 1986 shooting death of a man whose sister is accused of killing three colleagues at an Alabama university.
A district attorney ordered the inquest to investigate whether Amy Bishop intentionally shot her 18-year-old brother, Seth, at their home in Braintree, south of Boston. The shooting was originally ruled an accident.
Bishop is accused of shooting three professors to death at the University of Alabama-Huntsville on Feb. 12. The arrest sparked renewed law enforcement interest in the Massachusetts case.
The closed-door inquest is set to begin Tuesday and is expected to run through Friday. The judge will report his findings to prosecutors, who would decide whether to issue an indictment.
