NJ man convicted of stealing son’s donated money
SOMERVILLE, N.J. — A New Jersey man has been convicted of stealing thousands of dollars a PTA raised to benefit his son after a deadly fire and spending it on escorts and goods for himself.
Bridgewater resident Tubal Eduardo Sr. faces up to five years in prison when he’s sentenced May 28.
A jury found him guilty Wednesday of theft by failure to make required disposition of property.
Prosecutors say Eduardo stole more than $33,000 donated to his now-4-year-old son, Noah, and spent it on escorts, spa services and personal items.
Eduardo’s lawyer has said he used the boy’s money to pay fines and living expenses and to buy a car.
Eduardo and Noah survived a 2007 fire in Manville that killed Eduardo’s girlfriend and two of their children.
