9 shot in DC, 3 arrested; police don’t have motive
WASHINGTON — Officials say nine people have been wounded in a drive-by shooting in the southern part of Washington, D.C., and that three arrests have been made.
Police Department spokesman Officer Hugh Carew says the shootings of six men and three women happened about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Fire Department spokesman Pete Piringer says five of the victims had life-threatening injuries. He says all were in their 20s and 30s, except for one teenager.
Several people were shot in one block and another found several blocks away.
Police say three people have been arrested and a weapon has been recovered. No motive for the shootings is yet known.
Authorities say four D.C. police officers were injured during a pursuit of a suspect’s vehicle into neighboring Prince George’s County. The injuries were minor.
