NH teacher charged with indecent exposure resigns

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — A New Hampshire teacher accused of e-mailing nude photos of herself to a 15-year-old student has resigned.

Forty-one-year-old Melinda Dennehy stepped down as an English teacher at Londonderry High School instead of remaining on paid administrative leave.

The school district superintendent said Friday that Dennehy’s resignation was accepted by the school board on March 15.

Dennehy, who was arrested March 5, said she also will not attend any school events this spring.

Prosecutors say they’re trying to determine if Dennehy violated her bail on the indecent exposure and lewdness charge by attending a gymnastics meet in Hampstead. Dennehy’s attorney tells the Union Leader she only went last weekend because her daughter was competing and apologizes for causing any distress to the student and his family who saw her there.
