Man sought in E. Idaho slaying nabbed in Cambodia
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Authorities in Idaho say a man suspected of killing his mother there earlier this month has been apprehended in Cambodia.
Idaho Falls police say they learned Thursday that 33-year-old Nathan Helburn was taken into custody by authorities from Cambodia and Thailand.
Federal agencies, including the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service, are coordinating efforts to return Helburn to the United States where is considered a suspect in the death of 61-year-old Mary Helburn. Her body was found March 9 when police went to her Idaho Falls home to check on her.
An arrest warrant for Nathan Helburn was issued two days later. Investigators believe he stole his mother’s car, the fled the country.
Police in California found a car registered to Mary Helburn earlier this week.
