Mo. officer, Scout leader accused of sex assault
FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. — A remote Missouri town’s top police officer has been ordered to stand trial on charges that he sexually assaulted two members of the Boy Scout troop he led.
Forty-two-year-old Kenneth Tomlinson II faces 16 counts of sodomy. Madison County Judge Robin Fulton on Monday determined there was enough evidence for Tomlinson to stand trial following a preliminary hearing.
The judge closed the hearing to the public during testimony from the boys. During the open session, Missouri State Highway Patrol investigator Scott Rawson testified that Tomlinson admitted repeatedly assaulting the boys.
His attorney left the hearing without commenting.
Tomlinson was promoted to captain of Fredericktown Police Department last year. He is on unpaid leave.
