SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The FBI has announced the arrest of a man wanted in the 2007 carjacking and slaying of a university professor in Puerto Rico.
Authorities say Jorge Aguilera Enchautegui was arrested Thursday at an Orlando, Florida, motel where he was working as a front desk clerk.
Aguilera is accused of killing Inter American University professor Leonardo Gamallo Sotolongo. The professor disappeared June 13, 2007, after going to pay Aguilera for work on his yard. His body was found near a garbage dump two weeks later.
An autopsy found Gamallo suffered broken bones in his head and had been stabbed repeatedly.
The FBI said Friday that Aguilera is expected to be returned to Puerto Rico to face federal murder and carjacking charges.
