Possible plea for man in Conn. hit-and-run
HARTFORD, Conn. — The attorney for a Connecticut man says his client may plead guilty in connection with a hit-and-run in Hartford that sparked outrage because of video showing bystanders ignoring the victim.
Luis Negron is set to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Monday morning. He’s charged with manslaughter in the May 2008 incident, in which 78-year-old Angel Arce Torres was struck and critically injured. Torres died a year later.
Lawyer Gerald Klein says Negron may accept a plea deal and wants to address Torres’ family. Negron’s trial was supposed to begin Monday.
A video showed Torres being hit by one of two cars racing down a street and people ignoring him as he lay wounded. Others did call 911.
The tape sparked a debate about Hartford’s morality.
