2 men indicted in Arizona officer’s killing
PHOENIX — Grand jurors in Arizona have indicted two men accused in the shooting death of a Gilbert police officer.
Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas announced the indictment Saturday against Christopher Redondo of Globe and Daimen Irizarry of Gilbert.
Redondo is accused of fatally shooting Lt. Eric Shuhandler in the head during a traffic stop Jan. 28. He’s charged with first-degree murder, four counts of drive-by shooting and 19 counts of aggravated assault.
Irizarry was driving their vehicle and is charged with four counts of drive-by shooting, nine counts of aggravated assault and unlawful flight from police.
Authorities say that after a 50-mile chase, Redondo and Irizarry were wounded in a gun battle with 40 police officers from five different agencies.
