Man accused of threats on plane pleads not guilty

MIAMI — A man who allegedly yelled “I want to kill all the Jews” on a Detroit-bound plane at Miami International Airport has pleaded not guilty.

The written plea was entered Wednesday for 43-year-old Mansor Mohammad Asad, of Toledo, Ohio. His next court hearing will be March 25, with a tentative trial date set for April 5.

Asad remains in custody.

He was arrested Jan. 6 and charged with threats against a public servant, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer without violence to his person. A fourth charge of criminal mischief was added Wednesday.

Police said Asad was arrested after a taxiing Northwest Airlines flight returned to a gate. Authorities said the incident didn’t appear to be terrorism-related.

If convicted, Asad faces 11 years in prison.
