Phoenix woman indicted in her newborn’s death
PHOENIX — Authorities in Arizona say a Phoenix woman has been indicted in the death of her newborn baby, who was found in a trash can.
A Maricopa County grand jury on Friday indicted 24-year-old Brittany Williams on charges of second-degree murder and child abuse.
Williams’ family say she gave birth to a girl and placed the baby in a trash can near the family home.
Family members recovered the newborn and attempted CPR until paramedics arrived, but authorities say the infant was declared dead at the scene.
Williams was arrested on Jan. 14 and booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
