Mich. pair charged in Kmart guard’s dragging death
WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Authorities say a Michigan couple are charged with murder in the dragging death of a Kmart employee who was trying to stop the man from stealing $400 worth of CDs.
Authorities say loss prevention specialist Greg Wainio followed Woodworth outside the Waterford Township Kmart Thursday after noticing the shoplifting. Police say the two struggled before Wainio grabbed onto the vehicle in which Lomasney was waiting for Woodworth.
Police say Wainio was dragged across the parking lot before being crushed when Lomasney hit two concrete pillars.
The couple requested court-appointed attorneys and were being held without bond Friday at the Oakland County Jail. A message was left with Kmart’s parent company, Sears Holding Corp.
