2nd man charged in fatal shooting of Utah deputy
FILLMORE, Utah — A second man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a Utah sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop.
Ruben Chavez-Reyes was charged Tuesday with one count of obstruction of justice. The second-degree felony carries a penalty of one to 15 years in state prison.
Documents in 4th District Court allege 36-year-old Chavez-Reyes provided another person with the means to avoid capture after the Jan. 5 death of Josie Greathouse Fox.
Roberto Miramontes Roman has been charged with capital murder and tampering with evidence. He could face the death penalty if convicted of murder.
The two men were arrested together a day after the shooting near Delta, in central Utah. They’re being held in the Millard County Jail.
Chavez-Reyes is due in court Jan. 20.
