NEW DELHI - A nine-year-old girl was raped by a 20-year-old man in the heart of the national capital, police said Saturday. No arrests have been made in the case so far.

The incident took place in the servant’s quarters at Kasturba Gandhi Marg near Connaught Place Friday, police said.

“The incident took place Friday afternoon when the victim was alone in the servant’s quarters. Neeraj Kumar, who lives in a servant’s quarters in the nearby area, came and forced himself on the minor,” a police officer said.

“The man fled after assaulting the girl. When her parents returned in the evening, the girl told them about the incident,” he added.

The parents then complained to the police.

“Her medical examination has confirmed rape. The accused is missing from his quarter and we are trying to locate him. The accused and the victim’s family were acquainted with each other. Victim’s parents work as servants and at the time of the incident they were out for work,” the police officer added.
