GHAZIABAD - A guard was stabbed to death when he tried to resist a robbery in a factory in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad early Thursday, police said.

According to police, the armed robbers barged into Vadhera & Co factory, at plot number A-4 in the Loni Road Industrial Area of Sahibabad, early Thursday and stabbed guard Chhidda Pal, 58, to death when he refused to hand over keys of the cupboards and tried to resist the robbery.

A complaint was lodged with Sahibabad police station by factory accountant K.P. Kashyap. A police team reached the spot and inspected the premises, finding the office ransacked. However, the items or cash looted were not known as shop-owner Atul Kumar Vadhera, who is based in Delhi, was not available to prepare an inventory. Pal’s body was sent for post mortem.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Happy Guptan said the factory, engaged in manufacturing wheel balancing devices, operated during the day. At night, it was only the security guard and another employee, Ram Bahadur on the premises but the latter was in his rented room, some distance away from the office area.

“We have registered the case and investigation is on. We would soon arrest the culprits and solve the case,” she said.
