NEW DELHI - A day after motorbike-borne robbers tried to snatch a bag from a businessman and fired at a trader in busy Karol Bagh market, the criminals continued to elude the police.

“Investigations are on in the case. We have got clues and are on the lookout for the criminals,” a police official said Wednesday.

At around 8.30 p.m. Tuesday, two unidentified men tried to snatch the bag of businessman Mahesh, who owns a shop in the Karol Bagh market in central Delhi. However, as Mahesh raised an alarm, the assailants tried to flee.

“The crowd tried to stop the miscreants. As they felt that they would be overpowered, they shot at the crowd, injuring a person and fled from the scene,” the official added.

Two bike-borne assailants shot dead a jeweller in southwest Delhi Dec 27 before fleeing with his car and a bag reportedly containing Rs.5 lakh.
