BHOPAL - An under-trial escorted by police was shot dead by two unidentified assailants in the premises of Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district court Tuesday, officials said.

“Surendra Singh was brought to the Panna district court from Jabalpur central jail Tuesday morning. Two unidentified persons shot at him from point blank range while he was coming out of the court,” an official at Panna police control room said.

Singh was immediately rushed to the district hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.

The police suspect that enmity with the victim is the reason behind the murder. No arrests have been made so far though the police have launched a hunt for the attackers.
