NEW DELHI - The Satyam fraud case, the Shopian double “rape and murder”, the sister Abhaya murder case, corruption cases against the director general of ordnance factories and a deputy inspector general of police were among the prominent cases taken up by the Central Bureau of Investigation this year.
“We also filed chargesheets in serial bomb blasts in Assam, against the sons of former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala in disproportionate assets cases and the fake encounter of an MBA student in Dehradun,” a CBI spokesman said Tuesday.
“We also undertook investigations into the chopper crash of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S.R. Reddy,” the official added.
The CBI, the country’s premier investigation agency, also cited the death sentence to Nithari accused Surinder Koli and Moninder Singh Pandher for rape and murder of Rimpa Halder, 14, as another achievement.
