NEW DELHI - The son of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator from Uttar Pradesh will be brought to a court Thursday, a day after he was arrested for allegedly opening fire in an upscale south Delhi bar.
The accused, Vivek Singh, 27, son of Chander Bir Singh, was taken into custody late Wednesday night after he opened fire from his licensed weapon, a .32 bore Smith & Wesson revolver, at Mocha Bar at Satyam Cineplex in Nehru Place following an argument with the bar manager. No one was hurt.
Singh fled the spot but later surrendered to the police.
“We are bringing Vivek Singh to the Patiala House court complex where he would be produced before a judge,” said a police officer.
He has been charged with attempting to murder the bar manager.
