MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- A man from Dharavi has been arrested on charges of strangling his former wife to death. Police in Mumbai have alleged that Raees Ameen Khan, a resident of Dharavi killed his ex-wife Sitara as he could not bear to keep pace with her demands even after their divorce. 43 year old Raees Ameen Khan had been living in the slums of Dharavi with both his ex-wife whom he had divorced three months ago and his present wife Rajda Begum, along with their eight children.
Police officials have alleged that the man lured his former wife Sitara into the jungles of the Dharoli village of Madh near Dharavi to conclude his heinous task. The complaint lodged by the police says that Raees Ameen Khan shared a very unpleasant relationship with Sitara after their divorce, the two always engaged in quarrels almost every time at their home in the Dharavi slums. So when Sitara asked her ex-husband to buy her some utensils, Raees Ameen Khan agreed to give them to her but said that he will go along to purchase her the utensils. It was then that the man took his ex wife to the remote village of Dharoli and strangled her to death, later dumping her body in the swamps of the village.
The complaint had been lodged at the Dharavi police station by Sitara’s parents who were worried when their daughter did not return home. It has been reported that upon interrogation, Raees Ameen Khan confessed to his guilt, citing the reason of constant demands for having killed his ex-wife. The Dharavi man has been charged with murder.
