JAMMU & KASHMIR (GaeaTimes.com)- On Friday Kashmir witnessed mass violence in which many were injured and two men were killed. The Indian paramilitary forces resorted to firing to control the enraged anti-India protesters who started stone pelting their cars. The ghastly incident happened at Sopore which is 31 miles away from Srinagar. The police confirmed the firing and killing of two young men.

This is the fifth instance of the Indian security forces killing protesters in last two weeks in Kashmir. Three earlier killings all of which took place in Srinagar led to a valley wide wave of protests against the Indian government. The latest two killings led to an angry protest by the inhabitants of Sopore who took to streets to condemn the killings. The authorities resorted to curfew to prevent any further violence in the tension struck region. The protesters have launched an online campaign to condemn the killings by the Indian forces in the state. They are using the popular social networking sites.

The strike called in Kashmir valley resulted in closure of schools, offices and shops in Srinagar and adjacent areas. Hardline separatist politicians as well as the militants who are instigating the youth of the valley to separate from India have placed the Jammu and Kashmir government in dire problem. A section of the protesters are a bit moderate and they want Kashmir to become an independent union. The military has been under fire for the accusations of killing innocent civilians in the name of controlling unrest. The protesters are going to call strike in the first week of July as well.
