Man burns to death son for disturbing his sleep

A drunken man in eastern India burnt to death his five-year-old child after he began crying at night and disturbed his sleep, police said today.

Police said Hira Sahani, a resident of Sheikh Majharia village in West Champaran district of Bihar returned home drunk Friday night and went to bed.

He got furious when his son Chandan Kumar, sleeping on the same cot with him, woke up at night and suddenly began crying.

“In a fit of rage, father wrapped his son in a mat and and set it afire. The boy died instantly”, a senior police officer at the Majhaulia police station said today.

He said the police were conducting raids to arrest the man.
