Man throws daughter into river for being girl

A two-year-old girl died from severe injuries after her father threw her into river Ganga for being a girl, police said today.

Police said Chandan Pathak along with his family was crossing the Rajendra bride on foot on Thursday night when he suddenly snatched his two-year-old daughter from the lap of his wife and threw her into the river.

The girl died due to severe injuries since she fell on the dry sandy river bed.

Police said the man also pushed his wife into the river but she survived.

The man was returning from his in-law house and was not said to be happy with his wife for producing a girl child.

The incident occured near Mokama under Hathidah police station in Patna district.

“He was never happy after she produced a girl child and kept on saying that he will kill her some day”, his wife Tino Devi told the local police.
