This is self-explanatory.
In a major blow to the ruling NDA government’s credibility, the trading community members in Bihar have now decided to down their shutters by 9 pm, angry at the rising crime graph and the frequent murders of the businessmen.
“We have decided to down our shutters by 9 pm sharp and have formally communicated our decision to the police”, a senior office-bearer of Bihar Chamber of Commerce said today pleading not to be quoted.
The traders took this decision at an emergent meeting held in the office of Bihar Chamber of Commerce last evening.
At least three prominent city traders were gunned down by the rampaging criminals in recent months, sending panic waves among the business class.
“Our community members are being regularly targeted by the criminals and killed. We are panicked and want to return home early”, he explained.
The entire NDA leaders, including chief minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi had, of late, been reiterating that the law and order situation under their government had drastically improved and that the city hotels were abuzz with visitors’ activities till late night.
The development coming just ahead of the forthcoming state assembly polls in Bihar has perturbed the ruling regime which had decided to make “improved” law and order among other things the poll issue.
The local administration too is shocked at the traders’ decision since it had had all along been claiming that criminals had left Bihar due to their pressures and constant vigil.
“We managed to nab the criminals involved in the killing of three traders within 72 hours of their murders but are shocked that we failed to save their lives”, Special Superintendent of Police, Patna Vineet Vinayak said today.
