Police find 4 tortured bodies in southern Mexico
ACAPULCO, Mexico — Mexican state police say they found the tortured bodies of four young men in the back of an abandoned car, along with a written message accusing them of betraying drug cartel bosses.
Police in the southern coastal state of Guerrero say they found the bodies near a hotel in the city of Chilpancingo Tuesday night. A police report says the men appear to have been asphyxiated by plastic tape covering their faces.
A written message left on the windshield alleged treason against the Beltran Leyva cartel, police said Wednesday.
Last month, Mexican authorities killed kingpin Arturo Beltran Leyva and captured his brother, Carlos Beltran Leyva. Another brother, Hector Beltran Leyva, is believed to be the cartel’s boss now.
