THANE, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Two residents of Ulhasnagar has been taken into custody by the Thane police who posed as fake cops and took away expensive articles from young couples. Thane police officials have reported that the accused duo carried out their operation outside the hotels of Mumbai.

Shankar Variani and Satish Balpuri were arrested by the Thane police and in due course of interrogation they have confessed their crime. The two told the officials of Thane police that they have looted 10 such couples both in the Thane area as well as in the surrounding regions. Some of their victims also included couples from the hotels of the Mumbai. Following the arrest, Thane police have called upon all victims to file an official complaint against the accused. Thane Police have recovered jewelery worth Rs.51,000 from them.

Prashant Burde who happens to be the Additional Commissioner for Thane police told the media that both carried out their operations in a smart manner outside the Mumbai hotels. Their targets were innocent couples whom they stopped on their way and calling themselves cops confiscated all ornaments and money from them. Inspector Shivajirao Deshmukh who is the man in charge of the Thane Police Unit Of Crime in Ulhasnagar said that both Satish Balpuri as well as Shankar Variani has past crime records lodged with the Thane Police. He also informed that the accused duo were school dropouts who were first arrested by South Mumbai police and Budhwarpeth police for similar offenses. They were also said to be involved in gambling and were spotted playing cards all round the day for which they have received several warnings but refused to come to track.
