Nooriya Haveliwala Released From Jail

MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Nooriya Haveliwala, the beautician who had been taken into custody about two months ago after she was driving a car in an inebriated state which resulted in the death of two individuals, has been released from prison on Sunday. Nooriya Haveliwala’s release from the prison comes days after a metropolitan magistrate court granted her bail. According to reports, the bail was granted in the hit-and run-case which grabbed the attention of the nation in January, as the police authorities were unable to file the chargesheet within the specific period of time which is 60 days from the day the accused is taken into custody.

While talking about the bail, Nooriya Haveliwala’s attorney Renuka Laxmeshwar revealed that her client would have to pay a surety of the amount Rs.15,000. In the meantime, the Superintendent of the Byculla jail stated to media sources that all the bail formalities were taken care of on Saturday night and Nooriya Haveliwala’s family members came to receive her on Sunday when she was released from jail.

The incident which resulted in the arrest of Nooriya Haveliwala took place in the month of January in which two persons lost their lives after being hit by her car while several others were also injured. She was taken into custody the very same day with police authorities alleging that Nooriya Haveliwala was under the influence of liquor while she was behind the wheels of the vehicle which caused the accident. Reportedly, police wanted charges resulting in life imprisonment levied against the South Mumbai resident, but the court ruled the case would be tried under an IPC section that attracted only ten years in prison.
