SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Police officials who have been part of the investigation in the Chelsea King case, have revealed that the registered sex offender John Albert Gardner III was taken into custody after DNA from semen, linked him to the rape and murder of the teenager. The body of Chelsea King was discovered by authorities on Tuesday in Lake Hodges, near a park where she was seen for the last time before she went missing last week.

While revealing details about the probe which was undertaken in the Chelsea King case, Christine Gasparac, a spokesperson of the California Department of Justice has divulged that the semen that was found in the clothes of the 17 year old girl gave police the necessary evidence to nab the suspected culprit John Albert Gardner III. Meanwhile, the 30 year old suspect made his first court appearance on Wednesday in which he pleaded not guilty to the charges of rape and murder of Chelsea King levied against him. During the hearing, the parents of the victim- Brent King and his wife Kelly King were present as the suspected rapist and murderer of their young daughter stood silently in the courtroom.

Meanwhile, Chelsea King’s distraught father has blamed the criminal justice system for failing to provide adequate protection to their daughter which resulted in her unfortunate demise and emphasized that it had led every child in the country down. John Albert Gardner III has already served a five year prison sentence for molesting a teenager in 2000. When he was released in 2005, a prison psychiatrist has reportedly appealed that he should not be freed as he remained a threat.
